What COVID mitigation measures will be in place?

We will be requiring masks indoors and will be asking that everyone test prior to or upon their arrival. While we will have some tests available, we are requesting that people provide their own. Please test in advance as anyone who tests positive upon arrival will be asked to come up with an exit plan. Additionally, we have HEPA air filters and will have them in as many spaces as our capacity allows.

How accessible is the space?

The venue is a multi-building venue on hilly, grassy terrain. There are paved paths between most buildings, but some require traversing gravel or grass short distances. Parking is available nearby to buildings, but not right up to the doors. The dining hall, larger of our two housing dorms, and session rooms are wheelchair accessible, but some session rooms require crossing to another building to access water and restrooms. Restrooms are ADA accessible except in the one smaller dorm, which also requires stairs to enter. Please be sure to indicate accessibility needs if requesting housing, so we can be sure to place you in the larger ADA dorm.

We will be asking attendees to minimize the wearing of fragrances. Additionally, we’ll do what we can to accommodate accessibility needs attendees specify in the registration form.

What are the housing options?

Dorm stays are available on the campus for an additional fee to help us cover our costs. Dorm rooms are doubles and will be shared, with shared bathrooms down the hall and kitchenettes in shared rooms. There is also free rustic camping offered a 15-ish minute drive away over dirt roads. Camping is on a comrade’s nearby land, with no facilities and no fires or open flame permitted for fire safety reasons. You can also make your own housing arrangements in the area. If you are interested in accommodation, we will be in touch with more information once your registration has been confirmed.

Is this just for professional, licensed healthcare workers?

No! The convergence is intended for anti-authoritarian, abolitionist, and anarchist healthcare workers and healers. We will be prioritizing those for whom healing work is a central part of their lives, including those who engage in this work outside of institutional contexts.

Is this just for people living in the U.S.? What is considered “the northeast”?

This is not restricted to people in the so-called U.S. People engaging in healthcare/healing work in southeastern so-called Canada are encouraged to apply. We are roughly defining “the northeast” as north and east of central Pennsylvania and New Jersey and south and west of the St. Lawrence and Atlantic Ocean, respectively. This is not a hard boundary, and we encourage you to apply even if you fall outside that geography, but we will prioritize people living and working in the northeast for the sake of regional networking.

What if I can only attend for part of it? Can I still come?

We encourage you to come for the whole time to get the most out of the convergence, but you are welcome to apply regardless.

Will there be childcare provided?

Our hope is to provide childcare for attendees, but we can’t guarantee it at this time. If you think you may bring children, we encourage you to let us know on the registration form so we can assess childcare need and plan accordingly.

Will there be translation provided?

We are thinking about this but do not have capacity currently for translation services. If people have capacity to offer multilingual workshops or translation, please be in touch.

Are there any steps being taken to prioritize attendance and participation by people from marginalized groups?

During the attendee and presenter selection processes, we will be prioritizing people from marginalized groups, particularly BIPOC folks. Additionally, we are implementing a sliding scale donation model to facilitate attendance for people regardless of class.
